They survived a scare on Saturday after having been 4-0 ahead at half time through goals from Jim Fox (2), Mark Pannell and Martin Sturgess. The second half saw Broxbourne's defensive frailties appear and Southend drew level at 4-4 before Fox completed his hat trick to make the score 5-4. Southend equalised again but Broxbourne had the final word as Dan Ellis finally found the net again to hit the winner 5 minutes from the end.
