Luton vs Broxbourne 2's 3-0 Sorry no match report Welwyn vs Broxbourne 3's 1-0 Sorry no match report Broxbourne 5's vs Welwyn 1-0 Broxbourne Ladies 5s emerged 1 - 0 winners in an evenly matched contest with a great goal from player of the match Anna Wilson. Very extended report below! We won!!!!! Yep - strange but true. And as we wos all great I've been told I've got to mention everyone. Fee, Fiona, Jody, Sandy, Maz, Laura, Naomi, Anna, Meg, Hannah, Katie, Jackie and Jade. There - that's that bit out of the way. What else can I say? Without exception everyone played their little socks off - well I didn't because I still had mine on at the end of the game. This was a relegation battle and Welwyn's results have improved recently so we knew we would have a battle on our hands. Thankfully the game was shortened due to an ambulance on the pitch so we didn't have to sustain the supreme level of fitness our team has attained for too long. It was good to give Hannah a little airing after coming back from the brink and recovering from her recent illness, however she did look a little pale especially considering the skin tone of her mother. On this one occasion I would like to mention the fantastic solo run by myself after running out from defending a short corner intercepting the ball jabbing it with one hand out of the reach of a chasing Welwyn player sprinting up field dragging the ball out of the reach of the oncoming opposition and then onward towards the D where I placed a perfectly executed pass to one of our forwards which unfortunately didn't result in a goal. I would also like to mention that during this little episode Fee, in goal, had started to have kittens (one black, one white one and another with pink and cream stripes called Bagpuss) thinking I had over committed myself. Past experience probably caused the premature births and nobody was more surprised than me that I got so far up field without oxygen. Actually I do sometimes wonder whether I should wear one of those parachute things to slow myself down especially when running out at short corners. Jacky Joyce as umpire thinks she has got wise to my speed and thinks I start running before the oppo hit the ball. I'll have her know that I've worked very hard on improving my speed and I'm always first for the half time oranges. Back to the game - the teams were pretty evenly matched although I did think we all looked more attractive but persistence paid off and Anna Wilson - player of the match incidentally ' whacked home a corker. Actually what is a corker? Now this is a rather apt fact - did you know that the badger is the largest worm eating wild animal in Great Britain? Next week Shefford and Sandy away - we can do it!
