Saturday 25th February 2006 Broxbourne Mens 3s v WGC Result: Lost 7-1 Report by John Chapman
You begin to wonder if it's not your day when your playing away against the top of the table team, you only have 11 players and 15 minutes before the game one of your forwards calls the captain. Not to say he's been delayed but to point out that he's at the club house, Broxbourne's clubhouse and no one else seems to be there! The game itself is best forgotten, we knew the oppo's danger players but we gave them room to play and didn't do the basics. Once again the team suffered from a change of personnel, that was being felt by all teams in the club due to non availability. One other important comment, arguing amongst ourselves no matter what the situation just helps the opposition, lets be sensible next time guys. The game itself saw Welwyn take a quick hold on it and in the space of 20 minutes score 6 first half goals. Tim in goal couldn't be blamed it wasn't his day, especially when he dived for a save heard the ball hit the post rebound on to the back of his head and result in a goal. The 2nd half was better in that we created several chances, but really failed to make the Welwyn keeper make any saves, the one goal we got came from a cross that bounced up and was hit straight at their keeper, he just forgot to keep his legs together. Tim made some very good 2nd half saves to keep the score below double figures and with the defence looking more confident it was a more organised Broxbourne team that ended the game 7-1 down. Man of the match: Tim for a series excellent saves.
