Saturday 4th February 2006 Broxbourne Mens 3s v Royston 2s Result: Won 2-0 Report by John Chapman

An enjoyable game was had by all, well except for Captain Cranfield who spent more time laying on the beach that is John Warner astro than playing Hockey. This was not because he was cultivating a tan but due to a rather physical Royston team. Having lost the away fixture 4-3 we were determined to get revenge. It was a good all round performance with goals actually coming from our 2 forwards for once, Mr Hubble and Mr Gough. Tim in goal only had to make about 3 real saves. Although we started tentatively we soon proved that on the break especially down the right we could do plenty of damage. As I was on the left so I just did damage with a few poorly directed passes. Two nil up by half time and it could have been more, with more accurate shooting from our short corners. Royston came out and played a much more physical game in the 2nd half. This explained James' attempts to eat sand on several occasions. Royston also bleated every time they got fouled leading to an unknown source in our team describing them as being like a PANTO TEAM! We didn't increase our lead which was a shame and also slightly worrying as we have all the top teams to play and we need to make sure we don't miss any opportunities against the likes of Welwyn or Luton. Man of the Match probably Dicke as he proved solid and sorted out everyone's defensive duties once he knew their names!
