Saturday 11th November 2006 Broxbourne Mens 1s v Chelmsford 2s Result - won 4-0: Report by Laura
Broxbourne put their Essex opponents to the sword on Saturday when a scintillating first half performance saw them score three unanswered goals. After a cagey opening ten minutes Broxbourne got into their stride and opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Paul Dover finished off a fine Broxbourne move involving Sean Robinson and Rob Dyer. A second goal soon followed in the 18th minute when Rob Dyer had a simple job of finishing into an open goal after Andy Law's initial shot hit the inside of the post. By now Broxbourne were playing some of their best hockey of the season and were forcing several more good chances, Robinson just shaving the post from Dyer's first time pass. Robinson got the goal he deserved in the 29th minute when he finished off more good approach work from Law, Dover and Dyer. Broxbourne started the second half in the same confident manner and put in their fourth goal of the game in the 42nd minute, Dover finishing off a well worked penalty corner. Several more chances fell to Broxbourne during the second half, notably to Nick Hill who was looking to sign off on his last home game for the club before emigrating to Australia, but the chances went begging and the Badgers had to be content with a comfortable 4-0 victory. Broxbourne visit local rivals Blueharts on Saturday and have several injury worries. Peter Ware is definitely out after cracking his collar bone in a cycling accident at the weekend. Alex Brown took a nasty blow in the face on Saturday and Tom Evans has a badly bruised elbow sustained during Saturday's confrontation, but both should be fit for Saturday's game. Team; Ford(GK), Burrows, Evans, Crawley, Law, Hill, Dover, Fradley, Ware, Robinson, Dyer, Subs, Hopson, Brown
