Saturday 12th November Broxbourne Ladies 5's vs South Herts 3's Result: Broxbourne WON 2-1

A great result this week for the Ladies 5s - I told you to watch this space didn't I? Facing top of the table South Herts 3s who had beaten second placed De Montfort Uni 6 - 0 last week who had beaten us 0 - 8 earlier in the season, we approached the game just hoping we keep the score to single figures - a case of damage limitation. Not against the run of play we went 1 - 0 up with a well taken goal by Becky Quidington hovering around the post and, even though they equalised just before half time, as the game went on we really believed we could hold on to the draw if not grab another goal. Solid defending and pacey attacks caught out South Herts and also our superior fitness so it was just a matter of time before we scored again. Well struck corners gave us several good chances and Emily Staites ever determined slotted home our second. A spell of anxious defending took place where things were beginning to get a bit frantic as South Herts began to panic as defeat stared them in the face. Becky Quidington came to our rescue to ease the pressure by converting another well taken goal - the team now realising, as we play together more, where each other is likely to be. So our first league win 3-1 and our first points - there are likely to be some incredulous looks at the 5 counties web site this week and whilst we have no chance of winning the league we've made it a little more interesting.
