Saturday 7th October Broxbourne Ladies 5's vs Allenburys Result: Broxbourne lost 1-4
The bad news - we lost 1 - 4 and the worser - news I scored an own goal - and the even worser news - I'm having trouble pulling my socks up over my shin pads. The good news - we got half time oranges - well done Allenburys - and the much more good news -there were enough pink shirts to go around the team. Ok so we lost 1 -1 but we woz robbed - well not really robbed but we could have won. It was like this - in the ladies 5s we draft all these young players into the team and then groom them for future stardom in the higher echelons of the club. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I am just a couple of years older than most of the team, I missed out on this opportunity. otherwise I could have been plucked from obscurity and thrust into the 1st XI and almost certainly would have become a legend in my own lunchtime. Where was I? oh yes - well anyway at the start of each season we have to draft these players into the team and it takes a little while before they settle into their positions and also find a shirt that fits. But based on Saturday's performance I don't think it will be too long before we start winning. Rachel Bygate scored a great goal and the forwards, once they have more experience and gain confidence will start converting some of their chances. The oldies didn't do too badly either although Sandy Edwards didn't realise that Mary Rose's identical twin sister Rose Marie was playing so she spent the whole game chasing two players. We play Enigma this Saturday who have to travel from a long way so we are hoping the jet lag they will obviously suffer might be to our advantage. Watch this space - well not this space because I've used this space but another space which is spare. Maz
