Saturday 5th November Broxbourne Ladies 5's vs Welwyn 4's Result: Broxbourne lost 0-4
Remember remember the 5th of November - gunpowder treason and plot - none of which has any relevance whatsoever to our game on Saturday apart from the fact that when one of our team members sat down on the side of the pitch at the end of the game someone threw a few odd coins down thinking they looked like a Guy Fawkes. Not really but it might have been funny if it were true. And I'm not really trying to avoid telling you that we lost again - which we did - but we weren't that bad and 0 - 4 really did flatter Welwyn 4s. We had loads of corners in the second half and with a bit more experience we will start converting those chances. This was the first game this season that we have had a full squad and once we get the chance to play together on a more regular basis I'm sure we will be giving most teams a good run for their money. Player of the match this week was Naomi MacKay although Rebecca Mansfield and Emily Staites were also pushing for the award. I wish I could tell you more about the game but I spend my time gasping for breath so I rarely have time to watch what's going on and when I'm not I'm often very busy defending. At least I haven't had to describe our goals this week. Has anyone thought of designing an attractive gum shield and one that enables a captain to issue instructions and encouragement without sounding as though they have a serious speech impediment and looking as thought they were foaming at the mouth. Some of us have an image to protect! This week we play our first at home - home game for some time and we are looking forward to sampling Mrs. Stamp's cooking - does she do a la carte? - I'll have a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy!
