Saturday 29th September Broxbourne Ladies 2's vs Tring Result: 4-4
A goal in the dying minutes gave Broxbourne a share of the spoils as they travelled to Tring for what proved to be an entertaining and high scoring game. Playing their first league match of the season, Broxbourne took the lead early on in the half when Sarah Evans buried the ball past the goalkeeper from a short corner. Broxbournes lead was shortlived as almost from the restart, Tring drew level through another short corner. Within minutes Broxbourne were back in front again with two more goals from set plays, one from Jenny Orbell and the other from Amber Banbury. At 3-1 up Broxbourne were looking in control, however the half was far from over and what looked like a comfortable lead was soon wiped out as the home side again made the most of two short corners to scramble the ball across the line and bring the scores back level going into half time. The second half was a tight affair with both teams desperate to get the upper hand. Tring broke through midway through the half with a long ball through that was picked up by their forward and slotted into the goal to give them a narrow lead. Broxbourne kept plugging away, determined that their efforts were not going to go to waste. Their patience was rewarded when an excellent passage of play between Amber Banbury and Siobhan Devlin, lead to Devlin firing past the keeper to ensure that the match finished all square. With several key players missing from the line up, Broxbourne will be pleased with their overall performance and will be hoping to build on this when they play their first home league match on Saturday against Shefford & Sandy.
