Saturday 19th November Broxbourne Ladies 2's vs Cheshunt Result: 1-1

A draw was probably a fair result in this local derby. With nothing to choose between the two sides in terms of league points and goal difference, the teams occupying 3rd and 4th in the league, it was always going to be a tightly contested match. Both teams had good goal scoring opportunities in the first half, with both sets of defences having to defend a succession of short corners. Good interplay from Broxbourne youngsters Laura Wills and Sophie Munn meant that they kept the Cheshunt defence on their toes, Wills in particular proving a handful with her blistering pace. Despite these opportunities, neither side had made the breakthrough at half time and the score remained 0-0. The second half was much like the first, both sides having decent spells of possession. Cheshunt took the early advantage, a good ball through to a Cheshunt player who turned their marker and scored passed the on rushing keeper. The lead was short lived however, as minutes later sweeper Anne Bridge showed tremendous vision to play a quick pass out of defence, the ball was picked up in midfield by Emma Grainger who had a clear run through to goal. With just the keeper to beat, she took the ball wide, leaving the keeper for dead, and from an almost impossible angle, buried her shot to even up the scores. Both teams had chances to kill of the game, but the keepers at both ends ensured that the points were shared.
