Saturday 25th November Broxbourne Ladies 1's vs St. Albans 1's Result: Broxbourne won 4-1

Broxbourne finally recorded a well deserved victory at the weekend with a dominant 4-1 win over St Albans, the badgers started and finished the game in control with some excellent passing throughout the game making it impossible for St Albans to form any sort of attack. Broxbourne opened the score line with some text book switching of play. A pass from Gemma Smith across the width of the pitch to Sophie Minter saw Michelle Chapman free to make a run up the middle of the pitch. The ball was moved up the right wing with passes between Katie Naylor and Kate Maxfield who unleashed a powerful cross straight onto the stick of Michelle Chapman who fired it home to give the home team the lead. More Maxfield super runs followed and ten minutes later Broxbourne were rewarded with a goal from another cross which found Sue House who was able to slip the ball straight under the St Albans keeper. Broxbourne continued to pile on the pressure and were awarded a short corner for a vicious foul on Sue House. Jo Shrimpton produced a sweet drag flick into the top right corner leaving the St Albans team unable to respond. However, St Albans then made a rare attack winning a short corner with 5 minutes of the first half remaining. The resulting strike was powerful and hard, hit straight up the middle of the Broxbourne keeper who was unable to reach it leaving the score 3-1 at half time. Broxbourne started the second half just as determined and 5 minutes in were rewarded with yet another fabulous dribble and cross by Maxfield which reached Alison Hutchin at the top of the D. Hutchin managed to hit the ball first time beating two defenders and the keeper to make the score 4-1. Player of the match goes to Kate Maxfield after helping to create three of the Broxbourne goals.
