Saturday 15th October Broxbourne Ladies 1's vs Wapping Result: Broxbourne won 5-1
Broxbourne brushed off the disappointment of last weeks narrow defeat with an emphatic 5-1 victory on Saturday. Playing their first home league match of the season, Broxbourne pressured the visitors from the start, chasing down the play and moving the ball well across the pitch. Wapping had their fair share of the play but the Broxbourne defence coped well. A short corner proved the starting point for Broxbourne's goal spree, with Mel Evans netting after the Wapping defence failed to clear the initial strike. Evans struck again from a corner before the break; again the goal came from a failed clearance, a rebound from a defenders stick falling kindly for Evans to slot home. With a two goal advantage, Broxbourne began the second half full of confidence, however this didn't last too long as Wapping had soon pulled a goal back. Undeterred by this, Broxbourne countered and soon restored the two goal cushion when a penalty flick was awarded; Annette Berg stepped up to take it, coolly converting the flick. Buoyed by this, Broxbourne took control of the game; good running from Katie Naylor and Gemma Smith allowed the forwards plenty of opportunity, two further goals coming from Jo Shrimpton to complete the win
