Saturday 10th December Broxbourne Ladies 1's vs St Albans Result: Won 6-0

A hat-trick from 1st XI Captain Kate Maxfield gave Broxbourne a well deserved victory on Saturday and left Broxbourne well placed in second going into the Christmas break. Broxbourne played some of their most attacking hockey of the season in this match, they were given a lot of time on the ball and were able to exploit this with a sackful of goals. Broxbourne were the first to score, Maxfield running into the D and placing the ball past the keeper to take the early lead. St Albans were strong when they attacked, however the defensive combination of Jackie Edwards & Ashleigh Davis meant that what few chances they had were snuffed out. Maxfield scored her's and Broxbournes second goal shortly after. Goalscorer turned supplier as Maxfield set up Mel Evans for the third goal, an accurate pass finding Evans at the top of the D who made no mistake in finding the back of the goal. A fourth was added before the break from Katie Naylor. The second half saw Broxbourne in control of the match, the defence rarely troubled. Despite their domination, Broxbourne scored the remaining two goals late on in the match, Maxfield completing her hat-trick and Jo Shrimpton getting on the scoresheet. Broxbourne finish the first half of the season on a high and will be hoping to continue their recent run of good form after the Christmas break.
