Saturday 8th October Broxbourne Ladies 1's vs Gore Court Result: Broxbourne lost 2-1

Broxbourne were unlucky not to get anything out of this match as a disallowed goal meant that Gore Court edged a narrow victory over the visitors on Saturday. In a fast paced game, the hosts pressured the Broxbourne defence from the outset, good saves from goalkeeper Kim Bames ensured that Gore Court were unable to take advantage of this period of sustained pressure which they were soon to regret. An almost certain goal from a Broxbourne penalty corner was prevented by a defenders foot, a penalty was given which was duly converted by Annette Berg to give Broxbourne the lead. Gore Court fought back and soon evened up the scores going into the half time break. In a second half that swung back and forth, Broxbourne had a number of penalty corners but as Gore Cort had done in the first half, they failed to capitalise on their opportunities and were punished when a Gore Court forward broke into the D, the umpire played a good advantage as her initial shot hit a Broxbourne foot, and the player following up was able to drill the ball home to give them the lead. Despite this, Broxbournes heads never went down and they continued to press forward in great numbers. They looked to have had their reward when a short corner was seemingly converted, however the umpire signalled that the ball hadn't fully crossed the line.
